On Dying, Death and Resurrection

Easter, it seems to me, is a good time to reflect on dying, death and resurrection. It introduces us to the uniqueness of Jesus Christ and the Christian faith. However, if this subject is spoken about at all, it is often in rather hushed and muted tones; unless you are a poet, in which case you may feel drawn to allegorise and personify the dying process and death itself. This comes out at the beginning and end of the article as some poets make their views known. But what does the Bible say about death? What will our new resurrection bodies be like? Why will there be two resurrections, not one? What exactly is unique about Christianity when compared with other world religions. And as we proclaim Christ’s death and resurrection this Easter, how will people respond?
